Mommy blogger Jennifer Hicks (she writes for the Yummy Mummy Club) has written about the fact that some parents can’t attend each and every one of the offspring’s sporting events or school milestones.
Hicks believes that there’s nothing wrong with that.
She told the CBC that there are actually benefits to MISSING a few games! If you dodge one or two events, you can help grow a child’s independence.
It also helps to focus a kid’s attention on enjoying the game, rather than playing just to impress mom or dad!
And if parents feel guilty about not showing up for Junior’s hockey game, the only ones responsible for that guilt are themselves.
What do you think? If a parent doesn’t show up to every single game, could a child’s upbringing be forever shattered?
