A Financial Post investigation has found that the women previously thought to be the founders, executives and board members of niche dating websites owned by Avid Life Media were actually actors hired by the company. Avid Life Media Inc. is also the parent company of the infamous adultery site Ashley Madison that was hacked this summer. The hackers accessed former CEO Noel Biderman’s emails where it was indicated that the women who promoted themselves in national media as top executives at Cougar Life, The Big and the Beautiful and Established Men were hired to attract publicity and new members.
Is this considered fraud? Were these sites smart for using attractive spokespeople to promote their product?
