Former Police Chief and MP Julian Fantino has been charged with assault over an incident that took place during an arrest in 1973.
62 year old John Bonnici says he was assaulted by Fantino during a raid at 123 Gothic Ave. on Aug. 31, 1973.
He told the Toronto Sun Fantino handcuffed him along with a friend then officers roughed him up for a few minutes. He says they then poured ketchup down his buttocks and Fantino spread it around by stroking the outside of his pants with a police baton.
Bonnici claims he brought the case forward four decades later because his late father was a retired soldier and he din’t like the way the former veterans affairs minister treated vets.
Fantino’s Lawyer says he plans to vigorously defend the allegation from 42 years ago.
