A man driving a golf cart was spotted in the Highway 50 and Highway 9 area late Sunday night, and police say when they attempted to pull the man over, he tried to reverse the vehicle and takeoff.
Officers approached the driver on foot on Kingsview Drive in Bolton, and say he was displaying signs of impairment, in addition to the smell of alcohol being detected on his breath.
The 43 year old man was arrested for impaired operation of the vehicle.
Through their investigation, OPP discovered he was disqualified from driving through a court order.
Charges for Paul Edward Carson include driving while impaired, refusing to provide a sample and driving while under suspension.
The 90-day Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated; the cart was impounded for 7 days.
Carson is scheduled to appear in court in November.
