If Apple builds it, they will come.
Apple Acolytes have once again lined up outside the Apple Store in Toronto’s Eaton Centre (and other locations around North America) to get their hands on the brand new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s Plus.
Will this new version of the iPhone do amazing and wondrous things that the iPhone 5 could never hope to achieve? Meh. The iPhone 6 is a little larger, slightly better processor, the same photo-snapping capabilities, and is more efficient when it comes to battery life.
One woman in San Diego, California is so determined to get her hands on one, she will do ANYTHING – including sending a robot to Palo Alto to retrieve her device for her!
Brianna Lempesis’ BeamPro Remote Presence Device is standing in line today, waiting its… uh… her turn.
“I’m in line like everybody else, I just have a different body,” Lempesis said. “I am number 15 in line. Some people have left chairs here and they’re not really here, so I feel like I’m being really fair by being here and I’m committed to being here the entire time.”
Why would she go to such great lengths just to get a phone? Well, there’s a good chance that Apple’s Tim Cook will open the story today, as he has for past releases.
“I’d be like, ‘Tim, fist bump!’ and see if he’d go for it. I don’t know if he’d go for it,” Lempesis said.
Would you line up for something like this? What would you line up hours in advance for? Is anything in life worth precious hours of wasted time? Are these people insane?
Lempesis claims that some have left chairs in the line-up to mark their spot. Is that a fair way to hold your position in a line-up? Once you physically leave your spot, are you officially out of the queue?
