An amazing act of grace and charity by Number 76 of the Montreal Canadiens, P.K. Subban…
On Wednesday, P.K. Subban announced that over the next seven years his Foundation will deliver a $10 million donation to the Montreal Children’s Hospital. A seven figure amount will come from P.K. Subban himself.
Some cynics are claiming Subban is doing this for tax purposes (so why aren’t other wealthy individuals doing it too?), or that he’s trying to buy the ‘C’ for his Habs jersey.
Roy calls for Subban’s consideration to the Order of Canada. What a great role model and how much childhood suffering will P.K. alleviate.
Mark Yost writes on business of sport for the Wall Street Journal and Sports Illustrated. Yost admires P.K. tremendously for his generous gift, but points to athletes who do use foundations and charitable donations for tax purposes.
Is consideration of the Order of Canada for P.K. Subban something you’d support?
