As the curtain comes down on another year at the Canadian National Exhibition, organisers say early numbers suggest it was a bumper year for Canada’s largest fair.
In a release made public on Tuesday, they say an estimated 1.43 million visitors passed the gates this year, an increase of 10 per cent on 2014 figures.
Attendance figures of this magnitude have not been seen since 2004.
”The CNE remains one of the most value-packed entertainment events in the city, and people are recognizing this and responding positively” CNE General Manager Virginia Ludy said in the statement, adding that ”combined with great weather and accessibility by transit to our grounds, visitors near and far have come out to enjoy the Fair.”
Ludy also extended her thanks to ”everyone who helped make the 2015 CNE a great success”.
Official figures will be available in the next few weeks.
