Former Guantanamo Bay prisoner Omar Khadr is looking to have his bail conditions relaxed, according to the Canadian Press.
Khadr is primarily seeking to be able to fly to Toronto to visit his family. He’s also looking to get rid of his electronic monitoring bracelet, arguing it’s embarrassing and intrusive, as is looking to have his curfew eased.
In a supporting affidavit, Khadr says “”My release and reintegration into the community have been going great, I have not gotten into any trouble of any kind with the authorities.”
Khadr was granted bail earlier this year pending an appeal in the U.S. against his 2010 convictions for war crimes.
Khadr is currently living in Alberta with his lawyer Dennis Edney.
