Looking for a way to clear your hangover?
With the Labor day weekend approaching, and associated end-of-summer festivities that accompany it, lots of people are sure to be pulling out all of their hangover cures. Unfortunately, all that we thought we knew about hangovers could be wrong. Whether it be sports drinks, greasy food, glasses of water, etc, the best way to avoid a hangover is by abstaining from alcohol in the first place.
A joint study between the Netherlands and Canada has found that “the more you drink the more likely you are to get a hangover.” Now while this statement may be self-explanatory, it has been key to the research put on between the two countries. 789 students at Acadia University were surveyed for the study that looked at the relation between number of drinks consumed and the severity of the hangovers. While those who ate and drank after consuming alcohol showed a slight difference in the severity of their hangover, the difference could not be deemed significant enough to prove that it helped to cure the hangover.
