York Region Police say they’ve arrested Jason Hay, the man wanted in connection to the fatal shootings at the Moka Cafe.
It happened around 2 p.m. on Friday. According to York Constable Andy Pattenden, Hay was taken into custody on following a high risk take down that happened while he was driving north on the Highway 400.
The vehicle was stopped between between Mapleview Drive and Essa Road. Hay and another woman were inside the vehicle, both have been placed under arrest.
Two people were killed on June 24 when shots were fired at the Moka Café and Espresso Bar, located near Islington Avenue and Highway 7. Two others were shot, they were taken to hospital and have since been released.
27-year-old Jason Hay of Mississauga is facing two counts of first degree murder and two counts of attempted murder. Tashari Bennet, 25, of Mississauga is being charged with accessory after the fact and breach of recognizance.
Pattenden says the investigation is still ongoing, and other charges could be laid depending on the outcome.
