Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders spoke to the media at an afternoon news conference to address the investigation surrounding the fatal shooting outside of Muzik nightclub.
The chief says he has the best investigators on the case and that the owner of the club has been very cooperative in assisting with information and access into the building.
Saunders indicated that Toronto is indeed the safest urban city in North America and that members of the community can play a major role in helping solve the case, as public safety is the focus and that there are gaps in the assessment of the investigation.
Officers say that there is a need for materials such as videos and pictures that they witnessed people taking moments after the shooting took place around 3 a.m. Tuesday, August 4th.
The fatal shooting claimed the lives of 23-year-old, Duvel Hibbert of Brampton and 26-year-old, Ariela Navarro-Fenoy from Toronto.
The event was the official after-party for Drake’s OVO Fest, but it’s not known at this time if the rapper was indeed inside the club when gun shots were fired.
Crime Stoppers did issue an appeal to Drake to come forward and help with the investigation, but there hasn’t been any response from the musician.
