This week on VGS….
We introduce the world to VGS (Video Game Sophistry) the program that hopes to bring together the world of gaming, tech, movies, geek and anything else we old radio hosts can talk about.
If you’re new to the program, DON’T PANIC, take a moment to consider all of the choices you’ve made in your life to lead you here. CONGRATS! We here at VGS like to talk about games….a lot. Most of us play them quite often, some of us…more than others but we do love and respect the medium.
What makes us stand apart you might say, in the age of Youtube celebrities and North Korean Dictators what does VGS do that every Tom, Dick and Harry can’t? We interview, we interview ALOT. It’s part of our job in the Talk Radio world to (as luck would have it) talk so that’s what we do here.
Expected extended interviews with your favourite developers all about the latest and greatest games, along with retrospectives with some of my favourite people in the industry, like David Gaider head writer on the Dragon Age Franchise.
Right now though, click below to see all of our pretty faces and enjoy this week’s show!
If Youtube isn’t your bag the entire show is available on Sound Cloud below!
In this week’s episode we talk all about Gamescom, and review Rare Replay Have a listen! Here’s some highlights:
A bone chilling indie game from developer compulsion games; Creepy face paint, classic cityscape environments, and individuals that stare blankly into your characters soul with cold, dead, and surprisingly expressionless, painted on happy faces. An action packed thriller title that is sure to send shivers down player’s spines.
They left plenty to the imagination and intentionally excluded explanations for the things the viewer was seeing but one can only assume we are in for quite the dystopia filled horror game treat. There is no announced release date as of yet.
Notoriously difficult open world fantasy RPG title Dark Souls from studio Bandai Namco games is back and in a big way. It’s returned to its lurid glory and pits you against seemingly impossible foes that laugh at the face of anyone who dares to challenge them.
There is a variety of brutish monsters lurking around every corner and I can assure you that based off the short 2 minute clip shown, you can expect to die a ridiculous amount of times, breeding frustration and anger initially but satisfaction and pride in the long run. The grisly combat looks incredibly smooth and the atmosphere looks dark, gloomy and unforgiving. Dark souls 3 will be released early 2016.
A franchise that simply needs no introduction, the originating title of the Xbox brand, one of the defining multiplayer experiences on Xbox live, and one of the most intriguing and emotionally provoking stories of all time chalked full of memorable and interesting characters, the Halo series. Anyone who has played Halo knows that it has and always will be synonymous with intense fast paced competitive play.
343 is looking to revitalize this spirit by bringing to the table what looks like their single greatest multiplayer experience yet, catered to the competitor in all of us. They were one of the driving forces in allowing console Esports to manifest into what it is today, and they clearly are continuing to carry on that tradition after announcing a competitive Halo tournament with a 1 million dollar prize for the victor.
In addition, the campaign is looking to be the most intriguing yet, taking the Halo Universe’s lore to bigger and better places and in new directions. 2015 is an amazing year to be a Halo fan, and on October27 you can experience the game for yourself.
