A recent poll suggests that most Torontonians believe the Union Pearson Express is too expensive.
A new Forum research poll says 68% of respondents when asked whether the new train route costs too much, said ‘yes’.
A one way fare costs $27.50. When the poll nailed down what respondents thought the trip should cost, the average was about $12.
Many also believed the train should be a part of the TTC with more stops and a lower fare.
The poll randomly selected 892 residents, was conducted during the first two days of August, and has margin of error of + or – 3%.
In April, a similar poll revealed 58%, believed the cost was too high.
In addition, 46% polled in April said they would likely use the train at some point, a number that is down in the latest survey to just 39%.
The Union Pearson service began in June, and was built by Metrolinx at a cost of $456 million. Officials at that time said the service was averaging about 3250 riders per day.
