Pro-wrestling legend “Rowdy” Roddy Piper has died at the age of 61.
The Canadian-born wrestler died of natural causes in his Hollywood home on Friday.
Piper was born Roderick George Toombs in Saskatoon. He rose to prominence in the 1980s, battling the likes of Hulk Hogan in what was then the World Wrestling Federation. He would later go on to star in the late 80’s cult classic film They Live, directed by John Carpenter.
In 2006, it was announced the legend was suffering from Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2006, but was reportedly deemed cancer-free last November.
He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005, and was named one of the WWE’s top 50 villains.
