The Pan Am games shone in more than one way. The games not only sparkled at the venues, but, apparently on the road as well.
Games officials confirm they spent nearly $10,000 in car washes for a fleet of 1,200 vehicles leading up to events.
The Canadian Taxpayers Federation obtained documents through a freedom of information request and are not impressed with some things they saw.
The docs showed car wash money was spent at Imperial Oil and Big Wax between June and May — two months before the games kicked off.
In addition the Federation pointed out that some of the vehicles sat in the parking lot unused.
The budget for the games was around $2.5-billion.
