Mariners left fielder Franklin Gutierrez hit a solo home run off the Blue Jays Aaron Loup in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the weekend series.
Despite a great start by the Jays, burning Seattle starter Taijuan Walker for four runs in the first two innings, Walker did settle down to pitch 6.
The Mariners pulled off a rare triple play in the bottom of the 4th, when Ryan Goins grounded out to first base, Ezequiel Carrera then got caught in a run down between third and home plate which led to Kevin Pillar getting tagged out between second and third when Carrera dove back to third. However, Carrera then fell off the bag on his return to third and was tagged out to complete the triple play.
Mark Buehrle got through 5 and two thirds before being replaced. Nelson Cruz took reliever Bo Schultz deep for a two run game tying homer in the bottom of the 7th.
The Jays finished their west coast road trip 3 and 3. They return home to take on the Phillies at the dome on Tuesday night.
