Collingwood is gearing up for the Elvis Festival, which officially gets underway today with a big street party starting at 1 p.m.
This is now the 21st annual Elvis Festival for the town and organizers have been adding new events each year in an effort to retain devoted fans and they are also looking to bring in younger people.
Among the new events this year is “Elvis is Airborne “with a parachuting team and up and coming performers.
A part of the festival is “A Blue Suede Christmas” at the Huron Club, which takes place today with all proceeds going to Hospice Georgian Triangle.
Host Doug McKenzie says it’s an opportunity for 17 different Elvis tribute artists to do songs that aren’t heard as often as the king’s greatest hits.
