A safety audit is underway at a high rise building on Thorncliffe Drive after a young child fell from a 15th floor window.
The boy was taken to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The child was reportedly playing in a bedroom when he fell from the window. Reports also say the boy was visiting family, and a group of adults were not present when the child fell.
The president of the building’s tenants association says they had installed safety locks on all of the windows of the high rise building. However, other tenants of the building say they sometimes remove the locks to get fresh air or install air conditioning units.
The four-year-old’s funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Salaheddin Islamic Centre, located at 741 Kennedy Rd. A community vigil will be held Tuesday evening in memory of the boy.
