What do Rob Ford & mannequins have in common?
They both use the Pan Am HOV lanes when they shouldn’t!
Former Mayor Rob Ford admitted yesterday that he has ignored the three person vehicle occupancy rule and used the HOV lanes.
Calling them a ‘pain in the butt’ he added that he just sort of ‘bobs and weaves’ while watching over his shoulder for the cops.
And a motorist using mannequins to access the HOV lanes was always considered and urban myth. Yesterday, the myth was realized!
On Wednesday, Toronto Police pulled a motorist out of the HOV lane on the eastbound Gardiner Expressway at 8:50am. The Dodge pick-up was being driven by a human, but his two passengers were definitely not made of flesh and blood!
A cop noticed that the man’s front seat partner didn’t have any “life-like” qualities. The man was issued an $85 fine for incorrectly accessing the HOV lane. No extra fines were added for use of the mannequins!
“Linda” called The Oakley Show Thursday morning to tell AM640 that the HOV lanes have forced her to leave 2 hours earlier to arrive at Sunnybrook for her chemo. She used to be able to use an HOV lane to get in to Toronto quickly, but can’t anymore due to the fact that she doesn’t have 3 people in her vehicle. She claims that the Canadian Cancer Society asked the government to give patients a pass on the HOV lanes, but the request was denied.
