A record number of Ontario residents have registered to be organ donors.
About 3.2 million people or 27% of the eligible population is registered to donate according to a release from the Trillium Gift Of Life Network.
That’s an increase from the previous year, up 25% and up 16% in 2008 since the network started tracking registration rates.
960 lives were saved from contributions by 271 deceased donors, and 213 kidney recipients and 65 liver recipients helped by 278 living donors.
About 1900 tissue donors provided eyes, skin, heart valves or bone according the Gift Of Life.
