If you pay to use the TTC, but service is down, shouldn’t you get a refund?
Nobody associated with the Toronto Transit Commission likes that idea.
Mayor John Tory wants more accountability without resorting to refunds. TTC spokesman Brad Ross says the cost of such a program would be too high, and the money better spent on improving service.
GO Transit has a service guarantee program that’s been in use since 2012, and allows riders to apply for a credit if their train is at least 15 minutes late. Metrolinx claims that 600,000 customers have sought over $2 million in refunds since the program’s introduction.
If GO can do it, shouldn’t the TTC offer refunds as well?
