Charges have now been laid in the city's first homicide of 2013.

Early Tuesday morning, police responded to a stabbing call in the Keele & Steeles area.

22 year old O'Marie Brooks suffered stab wounds during the incident, and was pronounced dead a short time later in hospital.

Last night, 29 year old Nicholas Silvera surrendered to Toronto Police, and was charged with second degree murder.
