There could soon be less and less places smokers can light up.
Health officials will ask the board of health today to let them start the consultation process on banning smoking on bar and restaurant patios, public building entranceways, hospital grounds and sports fields.
The staff report is based on a 2011 survey that found over 74% of residents would support a bylaw that bans smoking on all outdoor patios as well as smoke-free doorways to shopping malls, arenas, restaurants, bars and also on sports fields.
The Health board chairman also wants to look at a ban on smoking during public events in civic squares.
