The Region of Peel has voted unanimously in favour of a recommendation to regulate tanning beds in the region by prohibiting their use by those under the age of 18.

The bylaw now requires that facilities post warnings and ask patrons for ID if they look 25 years of age or younger.

Chair of the Melanoma Network of Canada, Annette Cyr spoke in favour of the ban saying that, “The ultimate goal is to get government to enact a complete ban- similar to the one in place in Brazil.”
