A gas leak forced a day-long evacuation for residents of Claxton Road in Markham.

The leak started just after 7:30 Saturday morning, affecting 100 homes.

The gas leak was capped just after 9am, but crews spent the majority of the day making sure the homes were clear of fumes.

Residents were allowed back home after 5pm.
