Tropical weather in the Gulf of Mexico is taking part of the blame for a spike in gas prices.

Oil refineries have halted production by nearly 80%, in the wake of Tropical Storm Isaac, sending the price at the pumps up by 3.2 cents at midnight.

Oil prices also increased through overnight and early trading on Tuesday, topping $96 a barrel.
