East Gwillimbury Hopes To Bring A University To Town
Toronto/Am640 News

8/23/2012

The northern municipality of York Region, East Gwillimbury is vying for a university in their town of just over 22,000.

The province has said it's looking to open up new satellite campuses for 60,000 more post-secondary spots by 2016 and East Gwillimbury hopes to be on that list.

The mayor says the town has a GO station, VIVA and YRT buses and will be directly off the new Highway 404 extension that's expected in two years.

Milton is also in the running and has been in talks since 2007 with Wilfrid Laurier University to get a satelite campus.
