Two people and a dog had to be rescued from a fire above a deli on Bloor Street West near Runnymede.

Toronto Fire says they were called around 2:15am Friday morning and helped the two residents escape and quickly put out the fire.

There's no word yet on the cause but they believe the fire was contained to the apartment.

Both were taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
