Calgary police have been cleared of any wrong-doing in the shooting death of a man who came out of a home with an axe back in October. It all happened in a matter of seconds. Two constables arrived at the Citadel home on October 20th, responding to a call about an aggressive individual. As they approached the door, the man came out with an axe in hand. One officer fell backwards, hitting his head, but not before firing a shot. The second officer fired five shots. Alberta Serious Incident Response Team Executive Director Clifton Purvis admits officers didn't tell the man to drop his weapon. Purvis adds mental health issues were a cause for behaviour, but he says we may never know what his motives were.
