Yes, it was another typical March night of hockey inside the Air Canada Centre, Tuesday. The Leafs 5-2 loss to the New York Islanders was ugly, no doubt. But what continues to grow uglier by the minute is the level of frustration and anger Leafs fans are showing.

From the drop of the puck, it was clear many Leafs lovers in Toronto had already punched out. There was no shortage of empty seats and the ones that were filled were either occupied by a boo bird, a paper-bag wearing fan, some kid too young to know how bad this situation really is, or your everyday Bay Street suit.

About the time P.A. Parenteau buried the Leafs on a break-away goal to make it 4-2 late in the third period, those left inside the ACC let the team well ...

Carlyle's Home Debut Spolied by B's

The Boston Bruins now have 71 points, good enough for second place in the Eastern Conference standings. Ten of those points however, have been racked up against the same team - The Toronto Maple Leafs. A 5-4 win over the Leafs at the Air Canada Centre, Tuesday night brings the Bruins' record versus the Leafs this season to 5-and-0, just one win shy of a season series sweep. The Leafs actually managed to get the scoring started for a change as Carl Gunnarsson found the back of the net off a pass from Tim Connolly at the 3:01 mark of the opening period. But as the game progressed, the defending Stanley Cup Champions slowly took over, starting with a goal from Jordan Caron who was "Johnny on the spot" after the puck took a funny bounce off the glass before landing in front of a helping Jonas Gustavsson. It was ...

Panthers Embarrass Leafs, Fans Call For Wilson's Job

"We win as a team, we lose as a team".
It's a quote Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf threw to reporters on the heels of an embarrassing 5-3 loss to the Florida Panthers at the Air Canada Centre, Tuesday night. It's also a quote you could pluck out of just about every post game scrum with the captain this year. But while Phaneuf refuses to pass any blame or point any fingers, Leafs fans aren't so forgiving, and their fingers are pointing straight at the coach.
Chants of "Fire Wilson!" rained down from the 19,420 in attendance all game...a game that started with a Florida goal just 13 seconds in. A brutal give away by defenceman Luke Schenn was all Marcel Goc needed to get the Panthers rolling - and they never looked back. Mike Santorelli scored just over a minute later, giving the Panthers a 2-0 lead that they would ...

Sharks Take a Bite Out of Leafs Playoff Hopes

The Leafs will likely find themselves on the outside of the playoff picture, Friday morning. The club dropped a 2-1 decision to the San Jose Sharks at the ACC, Thursday night, falling to 1-6-1 over the last eight games.

James Reimer was relatively steady in the loss, turning away 23 of 25 San Jose shots. Jake Gardiner scored the lone goal for The Leafs; in fact the 21-year old rookie was really the lone bright spot for the club, logging nearly 27 minutes of ice time...about four minutes more than captain Dion Phaneuf.

Patrick Marleau score the Sharks only two goals, making it four goals against the Leafs during over the past two meetings.

The Leafs pushed hard to force and equalizer but failed to solve Anti Niemi, who turned away 29 of 30 Toronto shots.

With the loss, the Leafs have now dropped seven of their last eight games and will ...

Late Goal Seals Big Point For Leafs in OT Loss to Devils

A late game goal from Phil Kessel managed to keep the Leafs in the top eight of the Eastern Conference standings.

The Leafs were playing catch up with the New Jersey Devils all night at the ACC on Tuesday, but managed to salvage a point in a 4-3 overtime loss. The Leafs buried themselves into a 2-0 hole in the first period before Tim Connolly got Toronto on the scoresheet at the 14:42 mark - his 9th on the season from Joey Crabb and Cody Franson.

Clarke MacArthur would eventually tie the game in the second period - his 18th from Nik Kulemn and Mikhail Grabovski. The tying goal was short lived however, as a former Leaf, Alexei Ponikarovsky would put the Devils back in front at the 18:11 mark of the third period.

The Devils tried to put the Leafs away by trapping and collapsing throughout the final 20 minutes but a ...

Leafs Blank Pens in Bounce Back Win

Despite a third period collapse in the first leg of a home and home series with the Penguins on Tuesday, the Leafs managed to take three of a possible four points with a 1-0 shut-out win at the Air Canada Centre, Wednesday night.

Clarke MacArthur scored the game's only goal at the 13:55 minute mark of the third period; his 16th on the season from Mikhail Grabovski and Nikolai Kulemin. That line has not only combined for 19 points over the past three games but has also been integral in shutting down the opposition's best lines during that stretch.

James Reimer made 25 saves in what was his first start in five games and his second in 13.

The win also marked the return of two key players to the Leafs line-up. John Michael Liles and Colby Armstrong played in their first game since late December. Both have been ...

Leafs Double Speedy Oilers

A 6-3 doubling of the Edmonton Oilers, Monday night and the Leafs find themselves sitting seventh in the Eastern Conference standings - one point up on the Ottawa Senators, with two games in hand.

Is it a little too early to be scoreboard watching? Perhaps. But the Leafs, with some recent help from the Sens, have managed to erase Ottawa's nine point gap in just three weeks.

Monday's win over the Oilers marked another game in which the Leafs saw a lot of offensive depth, with Clarke MacArthur, Jake Gardiner, Phil Kessel, Tyler Bozak and Joffery Lupul all finding the score sheet. Mikhail Grabovski also continued his hot streak, assisting on the opening two goals. Grabovski, now has 12 points over the past six games, during which the Leafs are 5-0-1.

Phil Kessel, had a three point night bringing his career total past the 300 mark (302) and his season total ...

Leafs Blank Isles in First Half of Home and Home

The Leafs managed to pick up a much needed two points in the first half of a home and home series with The Islanders.

Monday night's 3-0 shut out win is the third time this month that Jonas Gustavsson has blanked the opposition. The Monster turned away all 25 Islander shots. Jake Gardiner and Cody Franson were also solid, each finishing the night plus-2.

Matthew Lombardi, who was slow out of the gate to start the season because of nearly a year off, scored a pair of goals including the game winner. The speedy winger now has three goals in his last two games and is beginning to heat up after missing 18-games with a shoulder injury as well.

Phil Kessel scored the other Leafs goal - his 26th on the season from Joffery Lupul and Carl Gunnarsson. The latter, was solid along side defensive partner Mike Komisarek, effectively shutting down John Taveres and ...

Leafs Bring in Struggling Habs for Saturday Night Tilt

The Leafs will bring in a struggling original six rival to the ACC, Saturday night. The Montreal Canadians limp into Toronto having just one regulation win in their last six games. Their latest loss, a 5-4 overtime decision to the Penguins in Pittsburgh, Friday night.
The Leafs meanwhile, enter Saturday's contest with a little more confidence having snapped a three game losing slide with a 4-1 win over the Minnesota Wild on Thursday.
It was an optional skate for the Leafs on Saturday morning, with only about 16 players taking part. Tim Connolly, Phil Kessel and Matthew Lombardi were not out there, but the injured John Micael Liles, Colby Armstrong and Darryl Boyce were. However, none of the latter three will play tonight. In fact, Head Coach Ron Wilson confirmed he will ice the exact same line-up that he did against the Wild on Thursday.
Jonas Gustavsson will make his second consecutive start and his seventh in ...

Leafs Stop Losing Skid at Three Games in Wild Win Over Minnesota

The Leafs managed to avoid their first four game losing skid in 14-months with a much need 4-1 win over the Minnesota Wild on Thursday.
Clearly, The "Wilson Experiment" is a success in it's early going. The Leafs head coach shuffled a lot of his lines Thursday, moving Joffery Lupul down to the third line along side Nazem Kadri and Clarke MacArthur and placing Matthew Lombardi with Tyler Bozak and Phil Kessel on the top line.
Lupul, led the way offensively for the Leafs picking up three assists and taking over the team lead in points with 51. Lupul's assist total is at 31 on the season now, that's four better than his previous career record of 26 which he recorded with the Flyers back in 07/08. Nazem Kadri opened the scoring less than a minute in, back-handing a pass from Lupul. Joey Crabb would make it 2-0 just over four minutes later; his 8th on the year ...
