Fire Hits Tuxedo Home

Crews are in cleanup mode after a house fire in Tuxedo this afternoon.

Everyone got out safely from the home at 106 Ramsgate Bay.

There is no word on the cause of the fire.

Motor Home Catches Fire Near Richer

Expect delays if you're travelling eastbound on Highway 1 near Richer.

Traffic is down to one lane after a motor home fire.

The vehicle was completely destroyed by the blaze, along with a car towed behind it.

No one was hurt in the fire.

Officials say the blaze likely started in the motor home's engine.

City Auditor To Address EPC

Winnipeg's city auditor has been called in to address the Executive Policy Committee in a special meeting at city hall.

He'll be questioned about the potential leasing of four city golf courses...and likely be asked to explain his math.

Many councillors don't believe the courses are losing as much money as suggested in an auditor's report.

The meeting has been called for Tuesday...the day before the matter faces a final vote at council.

Teacher's Vote To Address LGBT Issues In Curricula

Manitoba teachers have voted in favour of lobbying the province to address LGBT and gender issues in curricula.

The vote was nearly unanimous amongst the nearly 300 teachers at their annual meeting.

Society President Paul Olsen tells CJOB curricula needs to better reflect the wide range of students and families in today's society.

Any changes to curricula require approval from the province.

Investors Group Field Press Box Named For Bob Irving

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today unveiled the 'Bob Irving Media Centre' at Investors Group Field, named after Hall of Fame broadcaster and voice of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, 680 CJOB's Bob Irving.

Irving began calling play-by-play of Blue Bomber games in 1974 after being hired by CJOB in 1973.

Irving was inducted into the Football Reporters of Canada section of the CFL's Hall of Fame in 1997 and sits on the selection committee for the CFL Player Awards, as well as for both the Blue Bomber and Canadian Football Hall of Fames.

Body Checking Banned At Pee Wee Level

Body checking is now banned for 11 and 12 year old minor hockey players in Manitoba.

Hockey Canada has approved the ban coast to coast after every province but Saskatchewan voted in favour.

Hockey Manitoba Executive Director Peter Woods says the changes will come into affect next season.

Woods says there won't be too much of an adjustment, other than for players heading into their second year of Pee Wee that have already been exposed to checking.

New body checking standards for coaches to teach will also be developed.

Gun Call In North End

Winnipeg police are questioning several people following reports of someone wielding a gun in the North End Saturday morning.

Patrol and Tactical Response units were sent to Anderson Avenue near Salter shortly before 6am.

There was no reports of any shots fired or anyone injured, but several people from the residence were taken away.

Motorcycle Ride For Dad Revving Up

The fifth annual Motorcyle Ride For Dad is Saturday.

The annual ride is done to bring awareness to prostate cancer.

As many as 900 riders turned out for this year's event with $142,000 raised so far this year.

Rash Of Fires In West End

A busy night for Winnipeg firefighters Friday night.

A number of small garage fires broke out in the 700 and 800 hundred blocks of Banning and Lipton Streets.

Investigators say the fires may be connected.

Damage is said to be minor.

There were no injuries.

27th Annual "National Missing Children's Day" Saturday

Saturday, May 25th is "National Missing Children's Day" in Canada.

The Solicitor General marked May 25th as "National Missing Children's Day" back in 1986.

Thousands of Canadian children are reported missing every year, either as runaways or victims of abductions.

The Winnipeg Police Service is asking the public for further help in finding three of Winnipeg’s missing children.
