Get Your Nose Out Of It, Councillors!

City council wants to demand that a condo developer set aside ten percent of its units for families.

This condo tower is located at the corner of King and John Streets. While it may not seem like an ideal place to raise a family, let’s set that discussion aside for now.

It seems that city council is trying to dictate the market when they need to stop interfering in certain matters. Deputy Mayor Doug Holyday believes the developer should decide if the market calls for family units, not city hall.

That’s pretty much how the real estate game should work, based on demand not demands.

In other city-council-acting-as-Big-Brother news, Councillor Josh Matlow wishes to propose that landlords be forced to install air conditioning in their rental units. While air conditioning is nice, it is a luxury and not a necessity.
