With rising fuel costs alone it must be necessary.It's still much cheaper than driving and owning a vehicle.

If rates have to keep climbing, at least freeze the cost of the Metro Pass to give people an incentive to use the TTC every month. What I really object to is the waste, bad attitudes & laziness of certain TTC employees, including abuse of sick days. We have just heard the news of employees scamming $thousands with coverups -- likely the tip of the iceberg. These people need to be charged and fired. I have seen huge inefficiencies all over the system which if cut would lower TTC operational costs in order to keep public transit affordable for the mid to lower income riders who need it most.
