Ben Affleck? Good Guy…

Ben Affleck’s new film Argo premiered at TIFF earlier this month. Much to the chagrin of movie going historians, the postscript of the film actually minimized the role of Former Canadian Ambassador to Iran Ken Taylor.
Ambassador Taylor played a key role in what came to be known as the ‘Canadian Caper’, the hiding and rescue of six Americans who had managed to evade the Iranian takeover of the US Embassy in Tehran.
After the film’s premiere, director Ben Affleck sought to make things right. He contacted the former Ambassador and held a private screening of the film for Ken Taylor and his wife Pat. ‘If you have issues, I’ll address them’ is the quote from Affleck to Taylor.
And so the postscript of the film has been changed to appropriately reflect Mr. Taylor’s contributions to the rescue.
Thirty years later we get a chance to return the gratitude.
Thank you, Mr. Affleck.
