The deadline has come and gone. The solution? To lock the players out.
This is the third lockout in the past 18 years, with the most recent one coming in 2004, cancelling the entire 04-05 NHL season. The collective bargaining agreement expired at 11:59pm on Saturday night, now players find themselves “unemployed”.
It’s not only hurting the players, but the fans, who often say “It’s the most wonderful time of the year” when hockey starts up. The NHLPA released a video that features Sidney Crosby, Leafs goaltender James Reimer, Chicago Blackhawks Captain Jonathan Toews, and St. Louis Blues Forward David Backes, which states the players’ case on the whole lockout.

The question remains the same, who’s to blame? The owners, or the players?
