I bet the mom didn't ask the question because of the double standard our society holds for male and female sexuality. When the mom saw her son flirting with the older woman, she likely smiled to herself and thought "My boy is growing up". And not to put too fine a point on this, look at the language you have used, John. You say the boy is now 18 but can't be named because of his age at the "time of the affair" -- not at the "time of the abuse" or at the "time of the crime". And not to be too provocative, but I think there may be a difference not only in how society views male and female sexuality differently but in how the exploited youth feel about their experiences with pedophiles of opposite sex. Our society still wants to congratulate the boy who "scores" with the older gal and the boy himself may internalize that attitude and think he has plucked a plum and "what a good boy am I!" Older women must resist all temptation to get involved with minors, no matter how much they beg on their knees.
