In Other News...

The sun will rise in the east tomorrow. In a not-so-surprising announcement, CNN’s Anderson Cooper outed himself in an email exchange with the website known as The Daily Beast.

But why do we need to know the orientation of ‘celebrities’? We’re not ever asking if a certain person is left-handed.

Why does sexuality take such a spotlight? In a perfect world, nobody should care. Let the man do his job.

Welcome back, Mr. Oakley. The sun rises again on another non-news day. I was surprised that Katie Holmes gets nothing. Did Cruise insist on a marriage contract when they married?

Having watched Anderson for several years I would say that he never got too personal and stayed totally on track with the Topics being covered.Opinions were offered about same and his sense oh Humour was present in dealing with people.
His family became a discussion point in very Human ways re Brother,Mother and Father. He must have chosen to not have his sexuality to be a point to talk to.He didn't need it to add interest or focus on himself. He stood on his own Talents and is an excellent Reporter/Reviewer.I can't speak for him but likely his goal was to make it based on the Job done as opposed to selling views and angles about himself to gain interest from viewers.
    >>Why do we need to know the skinny on Celebrities?..to be able to be critical or reinforce likes and dislikes?,,Press needs these details to keep us interested and reading?...Groups need to show they have important members?...Todays Media and the wealth of info on the Internet create an ongoing crusade for MORE,MORE AND STILL MORE AND CURRENT FIRSTS TO KEEP US COMING BACK,,,Human nature needs to show us we are right in liking someone but most folks want to be right and justified.Who you like often has to conform to your own beliefs.Few people can admit they appreciate someone with different leanings,,unfortunate but often True.

I am going to be the devil's advocate here......is there a hormonal test that can quantify whether someone is gay or not? If not, then homosexuality is a choice. Just like there is not a scientific reason for me to prefer Vanilla over Chocolate - would I have been born with a predisposition to Vanilla? Can that be quantified by blood work? So do I care on a personal level? NO. It's like me revealing I prefer dark haired women to blonde women. When I start to care is when their lifestyle choice is used to gain advantage over others - ie jobs. You choose whether or not you want people to know your sexuality. Just like I don't go to my woman boss and say I don't like Blondes like you, only brunettes. Why would I tell her something like that, even though it's me. Again, until some scientist (not the coin machine game that tells you if you are the hottest kisser by holding it's handles) comes up with the definitive, quantifiable medial test; I will regard homosexuality as a personal choice that for now has become trendy and in vogue. It is used not to be equal but to gave advantage over others.
