CUPE vs. City: The Final Days

With less than two days to go before a possible work stoppage across the city, both sides in the ongoing labour dispute have come out with bats swinging. CUPE Local 416 President Mark Ferguson addressed the media this morning, and in a very fired up demeanor, announced "the city put a provocotive final offer that guts the collective agreement." Ferguson went on to say "the proposal was wrapped in a threat, accept [the offer], or terms and conditions will be imposed." Deputy Mayor Doug Holyday alongside the head of HR for the city, Bruce Anderson, then spoke to the media on what exactly the terms would be. Holyday pointed out the city has no plans to lockout the outdoor employees, and that come 12:01 Sunday morning, it will be business as usual, under new terms.
