1:00 Hot Dog Hits Highway A dog has been rescued from the Gardiner Expressway after police released it from a parked vehicle at a nearby grocery store. Police were called to the Loblaws parking lot at Jarvis St. and Queen’s Quay at about 12:30 p.m. after reports of a dog in a locked car. Officers got the doors of the vehicle open, but then spent several minutes trying to coax the animal out of the car. They eventually slipped a leash around its neck and got it out of the vehicle. However, the dog slipped out of the leash almost immediately and ran up the Jarvis off-ramp and onto the eastbound Gardiner Expressway, with officers close behind. The dog, a mixed breed named Parker estimated to weigh 100 lb., took shade behind a stopped car.
