10:00 To the Rescue… Finally! Rescue workers have removed what appeared to be a body from the rubble of a caved-in mall in the northern Ontario city of Elliot Lake. Officials have not confirmed any details, but television footage showed some rescue workers taking off their hard hats as the stretcher was carried out. Cranes have been toiling overnight to pull debris and clear a path for crews and search dogs to go into the wreckage. The risky operation was initially called off on Monday over concern that a precariously balanced escalator might collapse on rescue workers. But an outpouring of concern from the community prompted Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty to secure more resources for the rescue mission. Callers share their thoughts on the delayed rescue response in the Northern Ontario town.
11:00 Fire Knows No Colour A listener emails Mike about his struggle to land a job as a firefighter in the GTA. He claims that he’s a tall, well-built individual, but he’s been told that he’s being passed over because he’s not a woman or a minority. It’s one thing to hire a police officer that reflects a neighbourhood/region, but shouldn’t all firefighters be the biggest and strongest members of society? 12:00 Going Against Your Will Neil Diamond wowed Toronto last night by speak-singing Sweet Caroline THREE times in one concert! Some attendees state that the 70-something entertainer needs to call it quits. Why did they attend? For their significant other. Callers tell Mike about the concerts they’ve been dragged to. 12:50 LISTENER EMAIL!!!
