A Toronto woman has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the axe slaying of her longtime boyfriend in October 2006.
The jury found 36 year old Nicola Puddicombe killed Dennis Hoy with the blunt end of an axe as he slept in their apartment.
A jury acquitted Puddicombe's former lover, 25 year old Ashleigh Pechaluk, of first-degree murder in June.
Both the Crown and the defence agreed that Puddicombe didn't wield the axe to kill Hoy and Pechaluk was the perpetrator.
However, the Crown argued Puddicombe, was the mastermind behind the plot to kill her boyfriend of 11 years.
After being acquitted of murder in the summer, Pechaluk became the prosecution's star witness at Puddicombe's trial.
