Higher payouts due to water damage caused by burst water and sewer pipes have sent home insurance rates skyrocketing.
In some areas of Toronto they've gone up 500% in the past 5 years.
That's far more than the provincial average, which was still a steep 13% last year
Insurers claim it's simply a reflection of the amount of money being needed to payoff claims.
