    Autopsy results released in North Dakota
    Preliminary autopsy results are in for the Manitoba college student and her two friends whose S-U-V ended up in a livestock pond in North Dakota this week. The local sheriff says 21-year-old Ashley Neufeld of Brandon and her friends drowned. It's believed the women went on a stargazing trip Sunday night, two days before the S-U-V was found submerged in about three metres of water. The sheriff says a complete autopsy report, including tests for drugs and alcohol, will not be finished for another week or two.   A funeral service for Neufeld  will be held Sunday in Brandon..

    Wpg H1N1 Immunization Clinics Closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
    The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority has confirmed Winnipeg clinics will be closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. They will re-open Thursday under the same criteria for priority patients.

    Ideas For Resource Recovery at Brady Landfill
    The City of Winnipeg has put together a proposal for a gas and resource recovery project at the Brady landfill. A request for proposals would be put out... for the capture, collection and use of landfill gas. It would also ask for proposals regarding other potential resources such as compostable materials, wood, wood-waste and cardboard. It's thought an effective recovery project could reduce Winnipeg's greenhouse gas emissions by up to 97-thousand tonnes per year.

    Children's ER Experiencing High Volume of Sick Kids
    Masks are being offered to anyone going to the Children's Emergency right now at the Health Science Centre. The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority says the department is experiencing very high volumes of patients...more than half of whom are presenting with an influenza-like illness. As a result...there are long waiting times. Also, hospital administrators are asking the public to restrict any unnecessary visits to admitted patients. Meanwhile, on the H1N1 immunization front, the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority has confirmed Winnipeg clinics will be closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. They will re-open Thursday under the same criteria.

    Proposed Hike In Wpg Water And Sewer Rates
    If City Council approves you'll soon be paying more for water services. Winnipeg's Water and Waste Department Friday recommended a four cent increase in the water rate and a five cent increase in the sewer rate, effective January 1, 2010.  The recommendations contained in the report submitted to the Standing Policy Committee on Infrastructure Renewal and Public Works indicate that, under these new rates, a typical residential customer would pay $816.60 per year, an increase of $21.22, or 2.7% over 2009.

    God's Lake House Fire Claims A Life
    One person is dead after a house fire Thursday night at God's Lake First Nation, northwest of Gimli. RCMP got to the scene quickly, but only to find the building fully engulfed in flames. Residents of a nearby home were evacuated. The community's water truck went to the scene, but the house could not be saved. Police say unidentified remains were found at the scene, and one female resident is unaccounted for. There's no word on the cause of the fire.

    Toronto To Host 2015 Pan Am Games
    Toronto will host the 2015 Pan Am Games after beating out two rival South American cities. The decision came down today in Guadalajara, Mexico, where a team including Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty and Toronto Mayor David Miller made their last pitch to host the games. Organizers have said a win would bring new jobs, facilities and a little civic pride to Ontario's capital. Prime Minister Stephen Harper declined an invitation to travel to Mexico for the decision, but Federal Minister of State for Sport Gary Lunn is one of the delegates. Toronto won on the first ballot, beating out bids from Lima, Peru, and Bogota, Colombia.

    Frost Covered Roads Cause Major Morning Drive Troubles
    The drive to work was a real mess in many areas of Winnipeg as well as on the city outskirts. Around 7 o'clock Friday morning, police went to a collision on Garven Road about a mile east of Highway 59 where a truck collided with a SUV. The 51-year old driver of the truck was taken to Concordia Hospital, as well as the two people in the SUV. Police believe frost on the road was a contributing factor. In all, RCMP responded to 12 collisions Friday morning between 6:30 and 8:30 on the perimeter and various highways near Oakbank, Stonewall and Selkirk.

    Highway Traffic Numbers Justify Millions For Divided Highway
    The Federal and Provincial governments are moving on a plan to divide a section of the Trans Canada Highway between Winnipeg and Headingley. RCMP Corporal Larry Dalman of the Headingley Highway Patrol tells CJOB, you don't have to look hard for a reason: The plan is to divide the 1.7 kilometre stretch from the Husky gas station to the John Blumberg Sports Centre at a cost of 11.3 million dollars.

    Olympic Flame In Manitoba This Weekend
    The Olympic Flame arrives in Manitoba Saturday. Residents of Thompson will get to see the flame Saturday afternoon before it moves on to Churchill Sunday. Minister Responsible For Sport Eric Robinson tells CJOB Manitoba will also have a pavillion at the Vancouver Games. The pavillion will be next door to the Government of Canada pavillion during the games.
