Food truck bylaw on City Hall menu
Food trucks may soon be able to operate closer to restaurants in Hamilton.City councillors have approved an amendment to the bylaw, allowing food trucks to operate 20 metres away from a fixed restaurant.Right now, the trucks must stay at least 100 meters away. The amended bylaw would also limit food trucks to operate for up to three hours in one spot. The amendment still needs council's final approval.Joe Stanicak, the owner of the West Town Bar & Grill on Locke Street, told CHML's Matt Holmes Show last night that food trucks do not have any constraints, giving them an unfair advantage. He says food truck customers are also using washrooms at fixed restaurants, leaving those businesses to pay for the use of water.
