Tonight at Ron Joyce Stadium, the McMaster Intramural flag football team, Awfy-Wick will take to the gridiron to compete in the intramural playoffs for their 25th consecutive season.
The Awfy-Wick McMaster intramural team, which derives it’s name from Scottish slang which means “awfully-wicked”
was founded in 1985.
In their 25-years, Awfy-Wick football team has never had a losing season and has advanced to the McMaster Intramural championship game a half-dozen or more times capturing the coveted McMaster championship t-shirt in the mid-1990’s.
The Awfy-Wick Intramural team has also competed in Intramural basketball, indoor soccer, outdoor soccer, 3-pitch softball, volleyball, 3-on-3 basketball, and innertube waterpolo, but football is the only sport the team has competed in each year.
In a quarter century, Awfy-Wick has never forfeited a game in any sport the team competed.
Awfy-Wick has also made a point of giving back to McMaster University and the team former and present members donated to the construction of the David Braley Athletic Centre and Ron Joyce Stadium.
