After 20 years behind bars, convicted killer Donald James McGregor's ``faint hope'' for freedom has gotten a little brighter.
Court of Queen's Bench Justice Bryan Mahoney agreed with McGregor's lawyer his client deserves the chance to go before a jury to determine if his parole ineligibility will be reduced.
Crown prosecutor Harold Hagglund had opposed McGregor being granted a hearing, arguing the convicted murderer is ``still a substantial risk'' and has tried to fool prison officials into believing he has been rehabiliated.
McGregor, now 45, shot teen prostitute Chrissy Mowat six times in the head on Feb. 2, 1989, after luring her to a granary northeast of Calgary. He said he thought the 15-year-old was a stool pigeon for police
