Operation Red Nose is under new management, meaning people who party a little too hard over the holiday season, still have a safe ride home.

The Rotary Club used to administer the program, but had to back away after last season.

That's when the Spirit Keeper Youth Society stepped in.

Spokesperson Lacey Untereiner (UN-ter-EYE-ner) says their board of directors couldn't stand the thought of impaired drivers roaming our streets during Christmas: "We decided as an organization that this was something that was good for the community. Also, you may or may not know, we are an aboriginal organization and the community has been extremely generous in helping us out in our endeavours and we wanted to take this opportunity to give back what we could."

Untereiner says what they need most, is teams of volunteer drivers. In order to do that, all you need is a driver's license and a criminal record check. He says the RCMP is working with Operation Red Nose to get those done - free of charge.(dl)
