A second staff member, involved in the decision to provide Calgary Flames players and their families with H1N1 vaccinations, has now been fired.
Alberta Health Services says a Flames medical representative approached an Alberta Health Services staff member on October 27th about holding an H1N1 immunization clinic.
That request was forwarded to a more senior staff member, who in turn took it to a supervisor and the request was approved.
Approximately 150 vaccinations were provided to the Flames, family members and other Flames personnel.
However, Alberta Health says use of the vaccine was not discussed or authorized above the level of the individual who authorized its use.
No further disciplinary action is being considered at this time.
