The donation is worth $8 million.
Imperial Oil has donated a de-registered corporate jet to SAIT's Aircraft and Avionics program.
The 21-year-old Challenger jet is no longer required by Imperial and was taken out of service six months ago.
Imperial has another plane it now uses for corporate travel.
The donation will provide on the ground training for more than 250 SAIT students annually.
President Irene Lewis says the gift re-inforces the value of SAIT's programs
"The reputation is enhanced because there is a trust that has been built up that the graduates we have been producing for all these years. And this is one of our older programs from the 1920's."
Lewis says the donation will help students train on an aircraft with modern avionics and be better prepared when entering the workforce.
