Calgary Flames management admits the team did receive H1N1 vaccinations last Friday - but says Alberta Health Services was well aware of it.
"We thought we doing the right thing, given what we knew at the time," says Flames president Ken King.
He says the team approached Alberta Health Services, which set up a clinic for players, members of their families, coaches, and some management.
The team felt players, because of their frequent physical contact, extreme exertion and travel, should receive the vaccine.
King says the players didn't seek to avoid long line-ups or receive special treatment.
He says they were following the advice of team doctors.
And he points out it was Alberta Health that set up the clinic for them.
Accusation of queue-jumping are flying, and the issue even came up in the Legislature Tuesday.
The premier was asked why the NHL club was receiving shots when the general public was not.
